feelings:SLAM

Founded in 2020, the Visionary Futures Collective (VFC) is an organization of humanists working to respond to the COVID-19 crisis across US campuses. Their work is shaped by the BLM movement, addressing racial and gender inequities in Higher Ed exacerbated by the pandemic. Among their many projects is a caregivers survey where 309 respondents chose one of four emotional reactions to their institution’s COVID-19 plan of action: 148 felt abandoned, 124 felt somewhat supported, 33 felt adequately supported, and 4 felt fully supported.

feelings:SLAM visually imagines these individuals’ responses across various styles and borders within poetic structures.
